Are you passionate about social media and looking to gain experience in a flexible, creative role? The Archives Association of British Columbia is seeking a volunteer to help manage our public-facing presence on Facebook and Instagram. This is a great opportunity for students or emerging professionals looking to build skills in communications, digital engagement, and the archival field - all while contributing to a dynamic nonprofit organization.

Social Media Volunteer Duties:

  • Work with the AABC Secretary to plan, write and schedule content to be posted regularly on the AABC Facebook and Instagram feeds with the intent of engaging our members and the public.

  • Respond to communications sent via social media (comments, direct messages) and coordinate with the Communications and Executive Committees as needed.

  • Monitor analytics through Facebook Business Suite to assess engagement and reach.

  • Prepare a yearly social media report for the AABC Annual General Meeting.

  • Source and use appropriately licensed images for social media posts.

  • Liaise with the Education and Advisory Services (EAS) Coordinator to promote AABC programming such as webinars, distance education courses, Roundtables, Archives Awareness Week, and the annual conference.

  • Share relevant updates including institutional member events, job postings, and archival research news.

Time Commitment:
Approximately 2–3 hours per week (hours may fluctuate based on times of year, such as Archives Awareness Week and the annual conference).
