Welcome to the AABC's Year at a Glance Calendar

April 1, 2025 - March 31, 2026

Lots of things are always happening "behind the scenes" at the AABC thanks to the hard work of our volunteers and contractors! Here's a glimpse to keep you updated so that you can plan to attend events or as a reminder to add something to your calendar. More information about the different professional development events, conferences, and Archives Awareness Week can be found on their specific pages on the AABC website. 

To note:

  • The AABC fiscal and operational calendar runs April 1 - March 31.
  • The AABC Executive meets on a monthly basis via Zoom.
  • The Indigenous Advocacy Committee and the AABC Programs Committee meet on a monthly basis via Zoom.
  • This is an organic timeline and dates/events will be updated as finalized.

April 2025

  • Membership renewal period.

  • Annual General Meeting (April 24).
  • AABC/YCA Joint Conference Committee meeting.



    July 2025

    • Summer Newsletter to be published.

    • AABC/YCA Joint Conference Committee meeting.


    October 2025

    • AABC/YCA Joint Conference (Oct 7-9).
    • Archives Awareness Week planning.
    • Distance education course: registration opens for “Oral History: From Theory to Practice” (Oct 1).
    • Anti-Racism Bursary application opens (Oct 1 - Nov 1).

    January 2026

    • Distance education course: registration opens for “Introduction to Archival Preservation” (Jan 1).

    • Anti-Racism Bursary application opens (Jan 1 - Feb 1).

    • Distance education course: registration closes for “Oral History: From Theory to Practice” (Jan 9).

    • Distance education course: “Oral History: From Theory to Practice” starts (Jan 12).

    • Contractors/volunteers submit “wish lists” for budget planning. Review by Executive and Programs Committee.




      May 2025

      • Membership renewal period.
      • Distance education course: “Managing Moving Images and Sound Records” starts (May 5).
      • Executive transition meeting.
      • AABC/YCA Joint Conference Committee meeting.
      • Workshop: OCAP (May 6-7).
      • Webinar: Archival Foundations for Summer Students and Volunteers (May 21).
      • EAS Coordinator site visits to Kootenay-Columbia regional members.



        August 2025

        • Distance education course: registration closes for “Managing Archives” (Aug 11).

        • AABC/YCA Joint Conference Committee meeting.




            November 2025

            • Annual AABC Roundtable meeting (Executive, Committees & Contractors).
            • BC Archives Awareness Week (Nov 16-22).
            • Distance education course: “Managing Archives” ends (Nov 17).


            February 2025

            • Draft AABC budget for 2026-2027 created and reviewed.




                June 2025

                • Distance education course: registration opens for “Managing Archives” (June 1).

                • Anti-Racism Bursary application opens (June 1 - July 1).

                • Roundtea: "Archives Potluck: Crowdsourcing the Digitization Workflow" (June 3).

                • AABC/YCA Joint Conference Committee meeting.



                September 2025

                • Distance education course: “Managing Archives” starts (Sept 8).
                • AABC/YCA Joint Conference: Registration opens.
                • Archives Awareness Week planning begins.
                • Webinar: "Crunching Numbers: Meaningful Grant Applications" (date TBD)

                • EAS Advisor visit to UBC iSchool to meet new archives students.


                December 2025

                • AABC grant planning and writing.




                  March 2025

                  • AABC membership renewal letters sent, membership year April 1, 2026 – March 31, 2027.
                  • Distance education course: “Oral History: From Theory to Practice” ends (March 23).

                  • End of 2025-2026 AABC fiscal year.

                  • Executive approves new budget for 2026-2027 fiscal year.

                  • Executive begins AGM planning.
